Corrupt Prosecutor In Hannover Gets Long Prison Sentence

In the corruption case brought against a prosecutor before the District Court of Hannover, the defendant was sentenced to a lengthy prison term. On Friday, the court announced a sentence of eight years and six months. The verdict was in line with the prosecutor’s request, which argued that the defendant had caused serious damage to the rule of law. The defense, however, had pleaded for a somewhat lighter sentence.

During the trial, the defendant entered a confession as part of a negotiated deal. He is alleged to have supplied confidential information to a drug gang over several months. The data handed over included arrest warrants and planned raid details. In exchange, he reportedly received several thousand euros for each tip.
