Bayern Munich secured a place in the Champions League quarter‑finals with a convincing 4‑1 away win over Atalanta in the second leg. The German champions had already sealed a comfortable advantage by winning the first leg 6‑1, leaving the aggregate score in their favor. The quarter‑final will now see Bayern face Real Madrid.
The match opened with Atalanta adopting a defensive approach, putting pressure from the outset. Nevertheless, Bayern broke the deadlock in the 25th minute when Harry Kane converted a penalty. The kick was retaken after the Atalanta goalkeeper moved off the line early, and Kane calmly finished the second attempt.
In the second half, Kane added a second goal in the 54th minute with an impressive solo effort, turning a 2‑0 lead. Just two minutes later, Lennart Karl stretched the advantage to 3‑0 after a fine build‑up.
Atalanta, slightly more aggressive, were caught by a counter‑attack in the 70th minute when Luis Díaz finished a beautiful long-range shot, bringing the score to 4‑0. The Italians got a consolation goal only in the 85th minute, when Lazar Samardžič headed in a corner.
Despite the late strike, Bayern’s 4‑1 victory was secure, and as the only German side in the tournament they maintained their position in the Champions League.
