German Fuel Prices Stay Steady at All‑Time Highs After Middle East Tensions

In the third week after the outbreak of war in the Middle East, gasoline and diesel prices at German petrol stations have not risen further, but they remain at a very high level.
On Tuesday, the nationwide average price of one litre of Super E10 was €2.042, a drop of 0.3 cent compared with the previous week, according to a spokesperson for the ADAC who spoke to the dts news agency on Wednesday. Diesel, meanwhile, averaged €2.162 per litre, 2.6 cent lower than a week earlier.

Faced with these lofty prices, the federal government is currently drafting measures aimed at easing the situation. The proposed package includes a cap on the number of price increases that can be applied at petrol stations in a single day. Economy Minister Katharina Reiche (CDU) said that the legislative process for the package should be completed by the beginning of April at the latest.
