Following the Baden-Württemberg state election, winning candidate Cem Özdemir of the Greens has risen to become the second‑most popular politician in Germany according to a ranking by the Insa Institute. The Bild Tuesday edition reported that Özdemir scored 44.1 points, placing him just behind Defence Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD). In doing so he pushed Bavarian Minister‑President Markus Söder (CSU) down to third place, while Jens Spahn (CDU), the leader of the Bundestag’s Union faction, remains at the bottom of the list.
For the ranking, Insa surveyed 2,002 eligible voters between 13 and 16 March, asking them to rate politicians on a scale from 0 (very poor) to 10 (very good).
