The union Verdi has called for a warning strike at Berlin‑Schönefeld (BER) Airport on Wednesday. The employers stalled the ongoing tariff negotiations, which prompted the union’s decision, the union said on Monday. The strike is expected to cause flight cancellations and delays.
Verdi’s negotiating representative Holger Rößler said the staff keep the airport running every day and deserve respect and a salary deal that recognises their work. In the second round of talks, the employers presented an offer that the tariff commission dismissed as non‑negotiable. The next negotiation round is scheduled for 25 March.
During the second round, the employers proposed a multi‑stage wage increase valid until the end of 2028. According to the offer, there would be a “zero‑increase” round until June, followed by a 1 % rise from July 2026, a 1.5 % increase from July 2027, and another 1 % bump from May 2028. Rößler called the proposal a provocation at the negotiation table.
