In January 2026, accommodation operators in Germany logged 25.5 million overnight stays by both domestic and international guests. The Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) reported this figure as 1.2 % higher than in January 2025. Overnight stays by domestic guests grew by 1.3 % to 21.2 million, while those by foreign guests rose by 1.0 % to 4.3 million.
The data cover hotels, guesthouses and pensions, holiday rentals and similar lodging facilities, campsites, and other tourism‑related accommodations that provide at least ten sleeping places or ten campsite parking spots.
