FC Bayern Thumps Atalanta 6-1 In Champions League First Leg

Bayern Munich secured a decisive 6‑1 away win against Atalanta in the first leg of the Champions League last‑16, putting them in a very favourable position for the return match.

From the opening whistle the Bavarians were in control. A quick corner in the 12th minute gave Josip Stanisic the opener, after which Michael Olise struck again with a precise corner‑scoring effort at 22 minutes. Serge Gnabry added a third goal early in the second half, in the 25th minute.

After the half‑time break the dominance continued unabated. Nicolas Jackson put the hosts ahead in the 52nd minute, but Michael Olise restored the lead with his second goal of the night in the 64th minute, making it 0‑5. Jamal Musiala completed the tally for Bayern with a late header in the 67th minute, bringing the score to 0‑6. Bayern pressed on in stoppage time, with Mario Pasalic sealing a 1‑6 match‑day result in the third minute of added time.

Throughout the match the German champions held clear superiority; Atalanta managed only one solitary goal in stoppage time and found it difficult to threaten Bayern’s defence or counter the German offensive. An injury‐related substitution saw Alphonso Davies leave the pitch early, but the loss of their star striker did not affect Bayern’s momentum.

With a comfortable 6‑1 advantage, Bayern head into the second leg with a solid cushion and a clear path to the quarter‑finals.
