The Baden‑Württemberg statistical office announced, at night on Monday, the provisional final results of the state election. In terms of seats, the result is a deadlock: the Greens and the CDU each receive 56 seats, while the SPD is awarded 10 and the AfD 35.
The largest share of second votes went to the Greens with 30.2 percent, followed closely by the CDU at 29.7 percent. The AfD trailed with 18.8 percent, and the SPD held on just above the threshold with 5.5 percent.
The FDP failed to cross the 5‑percent hurdle in its home state, falling to 4.4 percent-the first time it misses the threshold. The Left also missed the threshold at 4.2 percent, ending its hoped‑for first entry into the Baden‑Württemberg state parliament.
Among other smaller parties that did not enter the parliament, the Free Voters were the strongest with 1.9 percent, followed by the BSW at 1.4 percent, and the Animal Protection Party and Volt each at 0.9 percent. Even smaller shares went to the satirical party “Die Partei” at 0.4 percent, dieBasis at 0.3 percent, and BündnisC, the Values Union, ÖDP, and PDR each at 0.2 percent.
Voter turnout was 69.6 percent.
