The 25th round of the Bundesliga finished Saturday evening with a 2‑1 victory for Borussia Dortmund over 1. FC Köln.
Dortmund took the lead early: in the 16th minute Serhou Guirassy headed past the goalkeeper from a corner, turning a short‑range opportunity into a clean goal. In the second half, the home side extended their advantage when Maximilian Beier finished a double‑pass with Julian Brandt in the 60th minute, making it 2‑0.
Köln managed a consolation goal in the 88th minute when Jakub Kamiński found the net, but the late strike proved insufficient to equalise. The visitors, down to ten men after a dismissal of Jahmai Simpson‑Pusey, continued to press but could not generate a clear chance to level the score.
The win is a welcome lift for Dortmund, who have gone three matches without a victory. The result shrinks the gap to leaders Bayern Munich to eleven points, keeping the German club back on a climb to the top of the table.
For Köln, meanwhile, the match left them unchanged in 13th place – still within the relegation zone – meaning they must pick up points in the remaining fixtures to avoid slipping further into danger.
