The Greens, together with 17 German companies, have urged the federal government not to implement plans such as the so‑called “networks package” proposed by Economy Minister Katherina Reiche (CDU). An accompanying paper, reported by Ippen‑Media for the “Frankfurter Rundschau”, calls on the black‑red coalition to maintain the “modernisation of our energy system” and the accelerated expansion of renewables. The Greens intend to put the paper online as an online petition over the weekend to gather more signatures.
The seventeen first signatories are: K2 Systems GmbH, W‑I‑N‑D Energien GmbH, Bürgerwerke eG, EWS, Enertra, Fenercon, FluenceGP (Siemens), Joule GmbH, Green Planet, Energy, Greentech AG, Naturstrom AG, ÖkoPlus AG, reventure, Timm & Flo GmbH & Co. KG, World Fund (Climate Tech VC), and Biber GmbH.
The appeal further argues that the proposals from the Federal Ministry of Economics could sharply slow the growth of renewables. The parties are “extremely concerned” that the economic potential and energy‑political needs might be ignored or misinterpreted by the current government proposals. They state that the projects as presented in the networks package or the key points of a building modernisation law would cause the government to lose focus on the goals and opportunities of the energy transition, thereby endangering existing investments and jobs.
A few weeks ago the Greens mobilised people against the networks package with a signature campaign, which has already attracted several hundred thousand participants.
