A Forsa survey carried out for RTL and ntv from 24 February to 2 March 2026 shows that the governing coalition – commonly referred to as the Union – maintains a slight edge over the AfD. The Union sits at 26 %, just ahead of the AfD, which remains at 24 %. The SPD holds steady at 14 %, the Greens at 12 %, and the Left at 11 %. The FDP and the BSW each capture about 3 %, while all other parties together account for 7 %.
The share of non‑voters and undecideds remains high at 26 %, markedly above the 17.9 % recorded in the previous federal election. Whether the recent flare‑up in Iran and the broader Middle East will shift German public sentiment will only become clear in the coming week.
In terms of perceived political competence, the findings show little change from the previous week. The Union’s rating improves marginally to 18 %, and the Greens rise by one percentage point to 6 %. Trust in the AfD drops to 11 % (a 1 % decline), while the SPD and the Left are rated at 6 % and 5 %, respectively. The same 53 % of respondents continue to see no party as having the competence to resolve Germany’s problems.
