Majority of Germans Say No to US‑Israel Attack on Iran 57% Oppose

Most Germans do not support the military strike by the United States and Israel on Iranian targets. In a Forsa poll conducted for RTL and ntv, 57 percent are opposed, 29 percent are in favour, and 14 percent have no opinion.

The rejection is especially strong in eastern Germany, where 73 percent opposed the attack. Only supporters of the ruling CDU/CSU coalition show a majority in favour (54 percent). In contrast, voters behind the SPD, Green Party, Left, and AfD overwhelmingly disapprove.

When asked whether the German government should criticize the United States and Israel more sharply for their actions in Iran, only 42 percent think such criticism is necessary, 45 percent say it is not, and 13 percent are undecided. Among party‑aligned respondents, Green and Left sympathisers (66 percent and 72 percent, respectively) call for stronger criticism, whereas CDU/CSU and AfD supporters (67 percent and 57 percent, respectively) largely oppose it.

German attitudes about a possible regime change in Iran as a result of the hostilities are split. Forty‑four percent believe the regime will fall, 44 percent do not, and 12 percent remain undecided. However, those who view the attack as fundamentally justified are particularly optimistic: 65 percent expect a collapse, and about half of CDU/CSU supporters think a regime change will occur.
