Werder Bremen ended their 13‑game winless run when they beat 1. FC Heidenheim 2-0 on matchday 24 of the Bundesliga. Jovan Milosevic sealed the win with a header in the 57th minute, following a corner from teammate Romano Schmid. Earlier in the game, Milosevic had missed a close‑range shot, but the team remained unable to convert most of their chances.
The first half saw Werder dominate possession, yet they failed to score. Heidenheim’s performance improved toward the end of the half, generating a few chances that went unanswered. Both sides displayed uncertainty, evident in numerous misplaced passes and missed opportunities.
In the second half, Werder stepped up the pressure and rewarded it with Milosevic’s goal. Heidenheim struggled to force an equaliser, hampered by a sharp Bremer defence and their own finishing frailty. During stoppage time, an own goal by Hennes Behrens secured the victory for the Bremer side.
With the loss, Heidenheim stays at the bottom of the table. Werder climbs into the relegation zone, a move that gives them some breathing room in the fight to stay above the drop.
Other half‑day results were: Bayer Leverkusen 1-1 Mainz 05, Borussia Mönchengladbach 1-0 Union Berlin, and TSG Hoffenheim 0-1 FC St. Pauli.
