Holstein Kiel has appointed 50‑year‑old Tim Walter as its new head coach, taking over from Marcel Rapp as announced on Tuesday. The club said it hopes Walter will bring “new impulses to the current sporting situation”.
Walter’s return to KSV Kiel marks his second spell as coach, the first having begun after the 2018/19 season. He is set to lead the team’s first training session on Wednesday.
The Kiel side currently sits 14th in the 2. Bundesliga, having dropped down from the top flight last season. Rapp’s departure was revealed early on Tuesday morning; he had guided the “Storks” for four years and, in the season before last, achieved the club’s first-ever promotion to the Bundesliga.
