Polish intelligence has arrested a suspected Belarusian spy who was also allegedly active in Germany. The individual was taken into custody on February 9 by the ABW, Poland’s domestic security service, prosecutors in Warsaw announced on Monday. He is accused of conducting espionage on behalf of the Belarusian military intelligence.
Prosecutors charge him specifically with having carried out spying operations in Poland, Germany and Lithuania between June 2024 and February 2026. During that period he is said to have gathered information on critical infrastructure and facilities that are important for the defense of Poland and NATO.
The arrest and indictment were carried out in cooperation with German and Lithuanian intelligence services. The suspect is currently in pre‑trial detention for an initial period of three months, and investigations are ongoing.
