After a U.S. court ruling struck down the tariffs President Donald Trump had imposed, he announced a new, higher tariff rate on Saturday. Speaking on his own platform, Truth Social, Trump said the decision of the U.S. Supreme Court was “laughable, poorly formulated and extremely anti‑American” and that he would raise the worldwide tariff rate for certain countries from 10 % to 15 %, effective immediately.
He described the affected nations as those that “have taken advantage of the United States for decades without punishment, until I came”. Trump added that in the coming months his administration would establish and enact new, legally permissible tariffs to carry forward America’s “extraordinarily successful revitalization process”.
