Nouripour Calls for Stronger EU Unity in China Policy Ahead of Chancellor’s Beijing Visit

Vice‑president of the German Bundestag Omid Nouripour, a member of the Greens, urged stronger European coordination in China policy before the German chancellor’s upcoming trip to Beijing. He told the Funke media group that after the first visits in the country, members of the German government should not travel alone, but only as part of a joint European delegation.

Nouripour said that all European states face similar challenges when dealing with China-from human‑rights concerns to the artificial scarcity of rare earth elements engineered by Beijing. He added that the Communist Party skillfully exploits even minor differences among European nations. “Therefore the China policy must be thought of consistently on a European level” he insisted, adding that China needs to see that we speak together and do not allow ourselves to be divided.
