In its bid for a recount of the federal election, the BSW points to fresh evidence suggesting possible errors. Eight eligible voters claim that they voted for the BSW in polling stations that, after the count, recorded zero votes for the party. At the same time, those stations reported “extremely above‑average” results for the tiny party Bündnis Deutschland (BD).
These claims are set out in the 177‑page election‑audit complaint the BSW filed with the Federal Constitutional Court on Tuesday, from which the “Stern” quoted the affidavits. The eight sworn statements appear in the annex of the complaint.
Party chair Amira Mohamed Ali told the “Stern” that the evidence shows “evidently false results that clearly point to structural counting errors against the BSW”. She summed up their position: “We now know that the official final result is incorrect”.
Wagenknecht added that the BSW has “clearly proven irregularities and systematic counting errors that have harmed us”. She clarified that the BSW is not suing over its entry into the Bundestag; the focus is simply on an accurate determination of the last election’s outcome and the public’s trust in the democratic system.
