Iran has reportedly launched intense shooting exercises aimed at the Strait of Hormuz. According to several Iranian state‑media outlets, rockets were fired from Iranian land, along the coast and from islands, reportedly striking their intended targets in the Strait.

Earlier that Monday morning, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps began a maneuver that covered the Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. These waterways are key international trade routes through which approximately 20 % of global oil transport passes.

The latest escalation comes just as the second round of indirect talks between the United States and Iran on the Iranian nuclear program has begun.
