German Defense Minister Pistorius Presents First Quantum Drone to Ukraine’s President Selenskyj

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius (SPD) presented a Quantum Systems drone to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Sel Sikryak on Friday, just before the start of the Munich Security Conference. The delivery took place in Gauting, near Munich, where the joint venture between Germany and Ukraine is operating a production line dedicated exclusively to the Ukrainian market. Pistorius said the plant will produce 10,000 units this year, with a rising trend. He described the hand‑over as “symbolic” and handed the first drone to President Sel Sikryak.

The minister emphasized how quickly the project moved from contract to production. “The contracts were signed in October, and now the production line is running” he said. He added that the venture benefits all parties involved: Ukrainian forces fighting Russia, the Ukrainian defense industry, the German defense industry, and also German and European forces that can learn from the on‑the‑ground data collected by the drones. Experiences gained in Ukraine’s battles could accelerate further development of drone technology.
