The White House is considering reviewing all contracts with American businessman Elon Musk after his statements about Ukraine.
“Biden administration officials are considering whether the U.S. should conduct a security review of several Elon Musk deals, including the acquisition of Twitter and the SpaceX Starlink satellite system.”
Officials are said to be “uncomfortable” with the billionaire’s recent statements about Starlink funding in Ukraine and “increasingly favorable stance in favor of Russia”. Officials are also worried about his plans to buy Twitter with a group of foreign investors.
Contract revision talks are at an early stage.
Musk said last week that SpaceX could no longer fund the maintenance of the Starlink satellite communications system in Ukraine. Then he changed his mind and declared that he will continue to offer these services.
Meanwhile, the European Union and the Pentagon are considering the possibility of allocating funds to ensure the operation of the satellite communication system in Ukraine in case of such a need.
