The aim is to drastically increase the coverage of electric chargers. Germany has approved a €6.3 billion plan that plans to drastically increase the number of electric vehicle chargers on the country’s roads over the next three years.
The plan is part of the state’s strategy to achieve zero emissions by increasing the number of electric chargers up to 14 times. By 2030, Germany should have one million chargers from the 70,000 it has today.
In doing so, special emphasis will be placed on hitherto neglected areas, as well as smaller communities, all to make electric vehicle ownership as attractive as possible.
“Our goal is to speed up the expansion of the charging infrastructure, simplify the charging process and thus make it easier for people to switch,” said Federal Transport Minister Volker Wiesing.
The German government also plans to simplify procedures for obtaining approval for the construction of charging stations. All of this should make life easier for owners and future buyers of electric cars, but also enable the exponential growth in sales of electric vehicles that they expect in Germany.
“We know that electric mobility is growing rapidly, so we have to be fast,” said Wissing, emphasizing that the positive experience associated with owning an electric vehicle is crucial in everything.
