Police and prosecutors have identified a suspect in the case of a 14‑year‑old boy from Dormagen who was found murdered. Authorities confirmed on Friday that the suspect is also a child.

Because of the suspect’s age and for the sake of personal and youth protection, no additional details about the individual or the circumstances of the crime will be released.

The boy’s lifeless body was discovered Wednesday afternoon by walkers near a lake on Salm‑Reifferscheidt‑Allee. An emergency medical technician could confirm at the scene that the 14‑year‑old was already deceased. A murder investigation commission led by the Düsseldorf Police Headquarters took over the investigation. An autopsy revealed both stab and cut wounds, which were determined to be the cause of death.
