Berlin Secures DFB Cup Final Until 2030 With New Partnership

Berlin and the German Football Association (DFB) have extended their partnership and signed a framework agreement for the DFB‑Pokal final that will remain in place until at least 2030. The announcement was made by the Senate’s Interior Department and the DFB on Thursday. Since 1985 the final has been played continuously at the Berliner Olympiastadion, making Berlin the longest‑serving venue for the competition.

Interior Senator Iris Spranger (SPD) said the final “belongs to Berlin, just like the stadium itself”. Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU) highlighted the importance of major sporting events for the city and announced upgrades to the south and east entrances of the Olympiastadion.

DFB President Bernd Neuendorf underlined the tradition and emotional significance of the Berlin final. “The match at the Olympiastadion stands for tradition, emotion and sporting excellence-values that make the cup so unique” he said.

DFB General Secretary Holger Blask described the final as a key economic driver. Timo Rohwedder, managing director of Olympiastadion Berlin GmbH, announced measures to improve the crowd flow at the South Gate. “The coordination and preparations have been underway for months” he added.
