German dealer of Chinese automaker BYD plans to at least double its 2026 sales in a second push. BYD‑Germany head Lars Bialkowski told the Handelsblatt (Friday edition) that the company’s goal is 50,000 cars sold by the end of the year. He added, “We want to meet the target we set last year and break the 50,000 mark”.
This objective had already been forecast by senior BYD executive Stella Li for 2025. In 2025, BYD’s German operations recorded 23,306 new registrations, according to data from the German Federal Motor Transport Authority.
The company’s recent success has come largely from plug‑in hybrids, a trend Bialkowski intends to continue. “In 2026 we aim for a market share of more than five percent in plug‑in hybrids” he said. For battery electric vehicles, he expects to capture roughly a four percent share.
