Green Party Demands Repatriation of Maja T from Hungary After 8-Year Prison Sentence

Helge Limburg, the political spokesperson for the Greens’ Bundestag faction, has demanded that the non‑binary individual known as Maja T. be returned to Germany. Maja T. was convicted on Wednesday in Budapest of eight years’ imprisonment.

In an interview with the Redaktionsnetzwerk Deutschland, Limburg warned that German police agencies-such as the Saxon State Criminal Investigation Office-should not conduct “night‑and‑fog” operations that strip German citizens of the protection afforded by the Federal Constitutional Court. He called for the federal government to act swiftly to secure Maja T.’s extradition, noting that rule‑of‑law processes in Hungary are not guaranteed while Viktor Orbán remains in power.

Maja T. is alleged to have participated, together with other associates, in attacks on several people during the far‑right “Tag der Ehre” event in Budapest in February 2023. The individual was arrested in Germany and, in June 2024, was illegally extradited to Hungary.
