The Zweibrücken public prosecutor’s office has issued an arrest warrant for a 26‑year‑old man accused of fatally injuring a train attendant on a regional train at Landstuhl.
According to preliminary autopsy results, the 36‑year‑old attendant died from a brain hemorrhage caused by severe blunt force trauma to the head. Investigators say the suspect was aboard the RE 4131 train at about 17:30 on Monday, traveling from Landstuhl toward Homburg. The attendant, after stopping at the station, asked the suspect to leave the train because he could not produce a ticket. The suspect is alleged to have struck the attendant repeatedly with forceful punches to the head. No knife or other dangerous weapons were reported to have been used.
The attendant lost consciousness while still on the train, received treatment and was resuscitated before being taken to a hospital, where he died early on Wednesday. The accused man claims to reside in Luxembourg and has no known prior convictions or police findings in Germany. Police are still reviewing video footage and investigating the suspect’s motives.
