Federal Justice Minister Stefanie Hubig (SPD) has declined to allow the use of Palantir software by Germany’s federal security agencies. “I do not see Palantir software being brought in for federal bodies” she told the “Rheinische Post” in its Friday edition, adding that she takes the specific concerns about the tool seriously.
She warned that automated data‑analysis tools require particular caution. “We’re dealing with sensitive data, and we must avoid falling into dangerous dependencies” Hubig urged.
The Interior Ministry has long been evaluating whether Palantir’s technology could support the federal police. Several states already use Palantir solutions for their police work-Bavaria, Hesse and North Rhine‑Westphalia-while other federal states have rejected the software outright.
