Alexander Schweitzer, the Minister‑President of Rhineland‑Palatinate, has urged Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt to refrain from deploying the controversial American software Palantir at the national level. He told the “Rheinische Post” that his state has consciously avoided using the platform, arguing that this has not restricted its ability to act. Schweitzer emphasized the importance of placing German sovereignty-and data sovereignty-in the foreground. He added that Rhineland‑Palatinate’s approach could serve as a model for other states, many of which already employ Palantir for police data. “Palantir must not be used at the federal level” he warned. Dobrindt had recently left the final decision on the matter unresolved.
