German Weather Service Cuts Severe Weather Alerts as Frost and Heavy Snow Dwindle

The German Meteorological Service (DWD) has lifted all official severe‑weather warnings for black ice and heavy snowfall as of Monday noon. Nevertheless, it remains in effect a warning for light snowfall across a bow that stretches from Schleswig‑Holstein and western Lower Saxony through parts of North Rhine‑Westphalia and Hesse, all the way to Eastern Bavaria, according to a recent statement.

The low‑pressure system “Leonie” situated just south of Berlin at the time, has weakened enough that no further severe‑weather alerts are required. Despite this, snowfall will continue into the coming night, and in certain areas-including parts of Franconia, adjacent Hesse, and East Holstein-it is expected to stay relatively heavy.
