A recent poll conducted by the public‑opinion institute Insa for “Bild am Sonntag” shows that most Germans feel uneasy about U.S. President Donald Trump and his policies.
– “61 %” of respondents consider Trump a threat.
– Only “24 %” view him as an ally.
This apprehension also translates into a majority calling for a tougher stance from the German government toward Trump.
– “52 %” of those surveyed support a harsher approach from the federal authorities.
– “31 %” believe that increased cooperation would be the better path.
The survey was carried out with “1,004” participants during the period from 22 to 23 January 2026.
