US ICE Shooting Claims Another Life

A 51‑year‑old man has died after being shot by ICE agents in Minneapolis. Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed on Saturday that the man, who was fired upon by federal agents in the morning, has now died. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security said the deceased was armed.

This fatal shooting marks the second such incident in Minneapolis this month. Earlier, on January 7, an ICE agent killed a 37‑year‑old mother of three – an event that sparked nationwide protests over federal immigration enforcement.

One week after that shooting, a Venezuelan immigrant was shot in the leg during a targeted traffic stop. He resisted arrest, sustained non‑life‑threatening injuries, and was hospitalized.

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz called the incident “shocking” and demanded that aggressive immigration controls cease. He urged the Trump administration to discontinue these tactics and withdraw federal officers from the state. U.S. Senator Tina Smith also criticized the presence of ICE agents, arguing that their withdrawal would allow local police to secure the crime scene and handle the situation.
