The United States of America will provide an additional aid of 1.1 billion dollars to Ukraine.
Eighteen high-mobility artillery rocket systems and “related munitions” are included in the package, the release said.
The package also includes 150 high-mobility multi-purpose wheeled armored vehicles, 40 trucks and 80 trailers for “transportation of heavy equipment”, additional radars for unmanned aerial systems, among others.
The latest package is being offered under the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative, which funds contracts to buy weapons and equipment.
And that brings total U.S. aid to Ukraine to nearly $17 billion since President Joe Biden’s administration took office.
The new aid comes as Russia moves to annex parts of Russian-occupied Ukraine that held Kremlin-orchestrated referendums to live under Moscow’s rule.
The votes, denounced by Kiev and the West as illegal and rigged, underscore that Russia’s long-term goal remains to take control of Ukraine.
