Ukraine‘s deputy prime minister, Iryna Vereshchuk, claimed Sunday afternoon that Russia has captured civilians alongside soldiers amid the war in Ukraine.
Thus, it is claimed that Moscow has about 2,500 Ukrainian prisoners.
Ukraine also claims Russia refused to return civilians in its latest exchange.
Kiev and Moscow have exchanged prisoners several times since the start of the war on February 24.
And in the most recent case, on September 21, Russia released 215 Ukrainians.
Andriy Yermak, the head of the president’s office, said that Ukraine received these prisoners in exchange for the release of Viktor Medvedchuk.
Medvedchuk, a friend of Vladimir Putin, is now living in exile.
