Bad weather and lightning have killed 36 people in one day in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, authorities said.
At least 24 of them died when their houses collapsed due to the continuous rain.
12 people were killed by lightning, including a 15-year-old boy who had just climbed onto the roof of a house.
Lightning is a common occurrence in India during the monsoon season, which lasts from June to September.
Indian scientists claim that climate change has increased the number of lightning strikes, many of which are deadly.
