Parties Reach Hospital Reform Deal

Following weeks of intensive negotiations surrounding the adaptation law for the hospital reform, the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Social Democratic Party (SPD) have reached an agreement. According to reports in the “Rheinische Post” (Tuesday edition), citing coalition sources, the Federal Cabinet is now anticipated to approve the draft proposal presented by Federal Minister of Health Nina Warken (CDU) this Wednesday.

The so-called “Hospital Reform Adaptation Law” was previously removed from the agenda due to unresolved discrepancies within the governing coalition.

Several federal states and health sector associations had voiced strong criticism of the delay in the Cabinet’s consideration of the legislation. The agreement aims to address concerns and facilitate the implementation of the broader hospital reform previously enacted.
