George Russell of Mercedes secured victory at the Formula 1 race in Singapore on Sunday, marking his second win of the season and his fifth career Formula 1 triumph. The British driver demonstrated a commanding performance, finishing ahead of Max Verstappen of Red Bull in second place, followed by Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, both driving for McLaren, in third and fourth respectively.
The race began with considerable excitement, with Russell maintaining his lead from pole position. Verstappen followed closely, while a minor incident in turn three saw Norris overtake Piastri, though Norris sustained slight damage to his front wing.
Russell quickly established a lead of over four seconds, while Verstappen reported experiencing gearshift issues from lap 12 onward, preventing him from challenging the leader. Norris closed the gap somewhat but never truly threatened Russell’s position. Further back, Piastri maintained a comfortable buffer, while Hamilton and Leclerc engaged in a battle for fifth and sixth place. McLaren’s strong performance solidifies their championship hopes, although the overall Constructors’ World Championship result remains to be seen. The remainder of the top ten featured Kimi Antonelli (Mercedes-AMG), Charles Leclerc (Ferrari), Lewis Hamilton (Ferrari), Fernando Alonso (Aston Martin), Oliver Bearman (Haas) and Carlos Sainz Jr. (Williams). Nico Hülkenberg finished in 20th position.
