Eintracht Braunschweig suffered a 2-1 defeat at home to SC Paderborn on matchday eight of the German second-tier league, the 2. Bundesliga. The visitors secured an early advantage, with Bilbija heading in a cross from Klaas within the opening 30 seconds of the match. Braunschweig attempted a quick response shortly after, but Yardimci’s effort was thwarted by a strong save from Paderborn goalkeeper Seimen.
For much of the first half, SC Paderborn maintained control of the game, limiting Braunschweig’s attacking opportunities. Neither team mounted a significant offensive push and Paderborn held a narrow lead at halftime.
The second half saw Braunschweig struggle to create consistent threats. A chance arose in the 70th minute when Yardimci set up Köhler, but the forward was unable to beat Seimen. Flick’s subsequent attempt was also high over the target. The home side finally drew level in the 86th minute, with Aydin’s cross met by Szabo for a goal.
However, Paderborn quickly regained the lead just two minutes later. Marino capitalized on a through ball from Baur, firing past Hoffmann to secure the victory.
The result leaves Braunschweig currently positioned 15th in the league table, while SC Paderborn’s win propels them upwards in the standings.
In a concurrent match, Fortuna Düsseldorf also experienced a loss, falling to 1. FC Nürnberg 3-2.
