Klara Geywitz, the former German Federal Minister for Construction, is set to assume a new role as Vice President of the Federal Audit Court (Bundesrechnungshof). Sources within the governing coalition and government circles have confirmed to Bild newspaper that the government intends to formally propose Geywitz for the position.
The nomination is expected to be presented shortly, filling a vacancy that has existed since January. The appointment will require ratification by both the Bundestag (Federal Parliament) and the Bundesrat (Federal Council, representing the states), though the outcome is widely considered highly probable.
According to information from coalition sources, Geywitz’s prior experience lends significant weight to her candidacy. Before serving as a federal minister, she held the position of Head of Auditing at the Brandenburg State Audit Court, providing her with a strong foundation in financial auditing and oversight.
