A significant police operation is underway in northern Munich following a fire that broke out at a single-family home.
According to a statement released by the Munich Police Department on Wednesday, initial investigations suggest the residential building was deliberately set ablaze during a domestic dispute. A person discovered at the scene with injuries has since been confirmed dead. Authorities are currently searching for another individual, though there is no indication they pose a threat.
The Lerchenauer Straße has been extensively cordoned off by police and residents are being asked to avoid the area. As a precautionary measure, a nearby school has been closed. The fire department has successfully extinguished the blaze. Reports from the scene indicate that residents heard what sounded like loud bangs, potentially suggestive of gunfire, although this remains unconfirmed and is part of the ongoing investigation. The situation remains dynamic and further updates will be released as they become available.
