The German government commenced a two-day cabinet retreat on Tuesday morning at Villa Borsig, situated on the Tegeler See in Berlin.
Discussions on the state of German competitiveness are the primary focus for the first day of the closed-door session. Attendees will hear a keynote presentation delivered by Markus Brunnermeier, a professor at Princeton University, providing an external perspective on the issue. Contributions are also anticipated from Grazia Vittadini, a representative from the Lufthansa Group and Gerd Chrzanowski, from the Schwarz Group, offering insights from the private sector.
Wednesday’s agenda will center on the planned “State Modernization” initiative, with a presentation from Digitalization Minister Karsten Wildberger. A standard cabinet meeting is scheduled to conclude the retreat. Details of specific policy proposals arising from the discussions are expected to be released subsequently.
