Germany Talks Taliban Kabul

German government officials are initiating direct negotiations with the Taliban-led government in Afghanistan. According to a report by “Bild am Sonntag” citing a spokesperson from the Federal Interior Ministry, a delegation is scheduled to travel to Kabul as early as October to discuss repatriation agreements.

The primary focus of these discussions centers on the procedures for returning individuals with criminal records and those considered violent offenders. Future deportations are planned to utilize scheduled commercial flights rather than the currently employed special charter flights.

Federal Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt emphasized the necessity for consistent repatriation processes. He stated that direct engagement with the Taliban government in Kabul is intended to ensure the consistent deportation of individuals with criminal backgrounds and those deemed a potential threat. The aim is to establish a predictable and sustainable framework for these deportations.
