Dirk Rompf will not assume the role of CEO of Infrago, the infrastructure division of Deutsche Bahn (DB), according to a personal statement released on Thursday. The announcement, widely reported by German media, indicates Rompf has informed both Federal Minister for Transport Patrick Schnieder (CDU) and the newly appointed CEO of Deutsche Bahn, Evelyn Palla, of his decision.
Rompf, currently managing director of the strategy consultancy Ifok and a long-standing board member of DB Netz AG, was only recently presented as the successor to Philipp Nagl by Minister Schnieder on Monday. However, his nomination faced significant opposition from employee representatives within the company.
The future of Philipp Nagl’s position remains uncertain. It is currently unclear whether he will retain his current role or if Minister Schnieder will propose an alternative candidate for the leadership of Infrago.
