Nationwide Raids Target Doping Network

Law enforcement agencies in Munich and customs officials have executed a major operation as part of a nationwide investigation into doping substance trafficking. The prosecution office in Munich I and the German Customs Investigation Bureau announced the raids on Thursday, detailing a probe targeting twelve individuals suspected of violating anti-doping and pharmaceutical laws.

The investigation centers on a suspected network of seven individuals, including one woman, alleged to have been operating between September 2024 and June 2025, dealing in banned doping substances and prescription medications. Authorities suspect the group orchestrated widespread distribution and financial gain through illicit trade.

Two of the individuals are believed to have managed a storage facility in Hamburg, utilized for distributing doping substances and medications to recipients. Another suspect is implicated in supplying this storage location with these substances originating from abroad. Over 3,000 individual shipments were reportedly sent to end users, generating payments exceeding €67,000. The majority of these substances were anabolic steroids.

On Tuesday, investigators searched eleven residences belonging to the suspects, as well as a small allotment garden plot that served as a storage space. Four individuals have been arrested and detained pending further investigation. The searches yielded significant quantities of doping substances along with electronic data storage devices. As part of asset seizure measures, two vehicles and bank accounts belonging to the suspects have been impounded. The initial impetus for the investigation stemmed from the interception of a suspicious postal package in the Kissingen district.
