Drone Sightings Trigger Copenhagen Security Alert

The Danish government has declared that the drone sightings at Copenhagen Airport constitute a deliberate attack, marking what Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen described as the “most serious incident to date against Denmark’s critical infrastructure.

The incidents, which also impacted operations at Oslo Airport in Norway, led to a four-hour suspension of flights on both sides of the border on Tuesday. This disruption affected over 20,000 passengers, with numerous flights being diverted. Normal flight operations have since resumed.

Authorities are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the drone flights and have indicated a sophisticated operator likely orchestrated the event. The motives remain unclear and a full assessment of the security implications is underway. Investigations are focused on determining the origin and purpose of the drone activity and authorities are working to enhance security measures at critical infrastructure locations.
