Roads Fuel Growth CDU Backs Minister

The head of the Federation of Medium-Sized Businesses and Economics, Gitta Connemann of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), has voiced strong support for Federal Minister for Economic Affairs, Patrick Schnieder (CDU), amidst internal government discussions concerning the transport budget.

Speaking to Bild newspaper, Connemann emphasized the critical link between infrastructure and economic growth, stating, “Without roads, there is no growth”. She argued that businesses require not only the maintenance and repair of existing roads, but also the construction of new highways and federal roads to facilitate continued operations.

Connemann stressed the importance of maintaining efficient traffic flow, highlighting its impact on order fulfillment, job creation and the supply chain.

She expressed confidence in the current government’s commitment to economic progress, suggesting, “The new federal government is aware that the upswing must not be jeopardized. Therefore, I anticipate broad support for the transport minister”.
