Following a period of restrictions, DHL is poised to resume the full transport of packages to the United States. Nikola Hagleitner, a member of DHL’s executive board, expressed confidence that a return to standard service levels is anticipated within the coming weeks, according to reports in the Funke-Mediengruppe newspapers.
The shipping giant had previously suspended the acceptance and transport of certain packages and postal items from business clients destined for the U.S., starting August 22nd. This decision stemmed from uncertainty surrounding tariffs imposed by the U.S. administration. Currently, limitations remain in place affecting both business and private clients attempting to ship packages with a declared value exceeding $100. DHL clarified that the suspension wasn’s due to an inability to ship, but rather a lack of clarity regarding operational procedures and calculations.
Hagleitner explained that the resumption of normal service is due to the release of additional information from U.S. authorities. Regarding the fluctuating trade policies, she adopted a pragmatic view, emphasizing the importance of global trade and globalization for DHL. She added that while restrictions sometimes arise, they often create opportunities for alternative solutions and do not fundamentally impede DHL’s long-term business operations.
