U.S. stock markets presented a mixed performance on Wednesday, closing with varying outcomes. The Dow Jones Industrial Average settled at 36,491 points by the end of trading in New York, marking a 0.5% decrease compared to the previous day’s levels.

Earlier in the session, the broader S&P 500 reached approximately 4,532 points, showing a 0.3% gain. The Nasdaq 100 followed a similar trend, closing slightly positive at around 23,849 points.

Unexpectedly, U.S. producer prices declined in August compared to July. The year-on-year increase stands at 2.6%. This indicator is considered a key signal regarding future consumer price developments. Easing inflationary pressures could provide the Federal Reserve with increased flexibility regarding potential interest rate adjustments.

The euro experienced slight weakness on Wednesday evening, trading at $1.1698 per euro. Conversely, the dollar fetched €0.8548.

Gold prices saw an increase, reaching $3,641 per fine ounce (+0.4%). This translates to a price of €100.07 per gram.

Oil prices significantly rose during the day. Brent crude, from the North Sea, closed around $67.60 per barrel, representing a 1.8% increase compared to the previous day’s closing levels.
