Excluding large orders, new orders were 07 percent higher than in the previous month Over a less volatile three-month comparison (May to July 2025), new orders rose by 02 percent compared to the three months prior Excluding large orders, however, a decline of 13 percent was observed A revision of June 2025 data revealed a decrease of 02 percent compared to May 2025, a change from the initial provisional figure of -10 percent This revision stems from a corrected report received from a major automotive industry enterprise
The contraction in new orders within the manufacturing sector in July 2025 relative to June 2025 was primarily driven by significant declines (-386 percent) in new orders for Other Transport Equipment (encompassing aircraft, ships, trains and military vehicles) This follows a period of unusually high large orders in June 2025 A decrease was also noted in the production of electrical equipment (-168 percent), negatively impacting the overall result Conversely, the automotive industry experienced an increase in new orders (+65 percent)
Investment goods saw a 24 percent decrease in new orders in July 2025 compared to the previous month, while intermediate goods contracted by 53 percent Consumer goods, however, registered an increase of 43 percent
Foreign orders declined by 31 percent in July 2025 This included a decrease of 38 percent in orders from within the Eurozone and a decrease of 28 percent from outside the Eurozone Domestic orders also fell by 25 percent
Real turnover in the manufacturing sector, according to preliminary data, rose by 09 percent in July 2025 compared to the previous month Turnover was 23 percent higher than in July 2024 (calendar adjusted) Revisions of June 2025 data indicated an increase of 14 percent compared to May 2025 (preliminary result showed +09 percent), according to Destatis
