Andre Schwämmlein, co-founder and CEO of mobility provider Flix, has stated he will not be pursuing the position of CEO at Deutsche Bahn.
Responding to a question from Welt am Sonntag regarding whether he had been approached for the role, Schwämmlein unequivocally stated, “No – and I wouldn’t do it either.
The announcement follows last week’s statement by Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder, who indicated the early termination of the contract of current Deutsche Bahn CEO Richard Lutz. Flix is currently heavily investing in its rail division, Flixtrain, with a commitment to 65 new high-speed trains. The company has become a significant competitor to Deutsche Bahn in the long-distance passenger transport sector.
